Welcome again to the Guilty Pleasures Revolution!
I don’t know one mother who doesn’t feel or hasn’t felt guilty about something! According to The Working Mother Institute and their research, What Moms Choose, working moms feel most judged about:
Not surprisingly, working moms are their own worst critics, with guilt being a top limiter of success. We’ve come a long way, baby, but all too often, it is still easy to fall into the guilt trap.
My Self-Imposed Guilt Trip
I remember when my son was small, and he was in daycare. One time I had vacation days to burn, so I took one of them as a “choosing me” day and sent him to daycare as usual (wow, this still stings a little). I had the right idea, but I must be transparent and honest with you -- I did feel guilty (which, by the way, defeated the whole purpose of a rejuvenation day).
This experience made it painfully obvious to me that I needed to reevaluate some things. It was then that I realized (with the help of my coach) that guilt was really a good thing.
And here’s why:

Ironically, here are three Guilty Pleasures that keep guilt from controlling your life. When “that” feeling arises, just become aware of it and then choose to:
I will leave you with one other thought about guilt. There will always be something that arises to push the guilt button. I wish I could tell you it is totally unavoidable. But what I can, without a doubt, guarantee is that if you look at the big, hairy guilt monster squarely in the eye for what it is – just a feeling and feelings can be changed – it will shrivel up, and you will find more joy each and every day.
Affirmation for Day 9: I am doing my best, and my best is my best for now.
